ℯNEWS October, 4 2024
What a week it has been at school! The buzz in the air has been incredible with our House and Vice Captain elections taking centre stage today. Our typically calm school office was transformed into a bustling polling station, where eager young voters queued to cast their ballots for their favoured candidates. Our Form Six pupils have been campaigning with remarkable gusto all in a bid to secure the crucial votes from their fellow House members.
It has been brilliant watching the children give it their all, embracing the responsibilities of leadership as well as the importance of civic engagement.
We look forward to announcing our new House and Vice Captains on Monday during assembly. All of our Form Six candidates have conducted themselves admirably throughout this process, embodying the values we hold dear at CHS.
Winter Uniform
Children should now be in full winter uniform, including their blazers, every day even when wearing their PE uniform. Wearing the correct uniform, including the school blazer, fosters a sense of belonging amongst our pupils, whilst also preparing them for the expectations of senior school.
Student Council - Special event
Our Student Council has been invited to represent the school by taking part in a local community event. Council members will have the opportunity to participate in an unveiling ceremony within the local community. The details are being kept under wraps for now, but we hope to share the exciting news with the rest of our CHS community soon!
Autumn Term Virtual Parent Coffee Mornings
From time to time, our experienced teachers make recommendations for specialist support. This can feel daunting, especially when the recommended specialists have words linked to therapist in their titles. In recognition of this, Mrs Hampton has arranged for a number of specialists to join her in the coming weeks for our virtual parent coffee mornings. We urge all our parents to spare a few moments to join these talks as they will give you an insight into the many varying ways that our pupils can be supported in school now and perhaps in the future.
Virtual Coffee Morning - Lauren Besser My Occupational Therapist
Mrs Hampton has invited Ms Lauren Besser, a specialist in Occupational Therapy to speak to parents on Friday 11th October at 10.15 am. She will explain what Occupational Therapy is, how it can support children, and the benefits of OT sessions. This presentation will help parents understand the role and importance of Occupational Therapy in child development and education. Details will follow at the beginning of next week.
Parent Meetings
You will have now received the links to book your parent-teacher meetings taking place on Monday 21 or Tuesday 22 October. Please be reminded that on both days, after-school clubs will not be running. There will be a teaching assistant supervising children if they accompany parents during the allocated times.
Ms Pluskowska - Fundraising
Ms Pluskowska would like to thank our CHS families that have already been very generous in supporting her fundraising efforts. Last week we shared that Ms Pluskowska has been a Weekend Club volunteer at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) for the last 10 years, supporting patients and their families. She will be taking part in a 5k race on the 12th October to raise money for the hospital.
If you would like to find out more about why she has chosen to support GOSH and to kindly add to the final total, you can view her fundraising page following this link: https://fundraise.gosh.org/fundraisers/klarapluskowska?j=6043176&sfmc_sub=146176050&l=52_HTML&u=113335920&mid=7290764&jb=10&utm_source=goshcc&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Race24_Email+5_Recruitment+Push&utm_content=Share+my+page+button&utm_term=6043176
